Herbal Medicine

Herbal medicine is one of the oldest healing systems and continues to play a significant role in modern healthcare, a large portion of the global population relying on traditional medicine practices (Vickers & Zollman, 1999; Mahomoodally, 2013). Unlike conventional treatments that often focus on symptom management, herbal and traditional approaches emphasize treating the root cause of illness through a holistic framework that addresses the mind, body, and spirit. These approaches often involve combining multiple plant compounds that work synergistically to enhance therapeutic effects and reduce potential side effects (Vickers & Zollman, 1999; Mahomoodally, 2013). Additionally, traditional healing systems are deeply rooted in cultural and ancestral knowledge, providing not only physical healing but also emotional and psychological support through identity, lineage, and community connection (Mahomoodally, 2013)
